Story:
When my brother and I were kids, our dad would take us to the movies often. After the movie, on the car ride back our dad would ask us a bunch of questions about what we liked, didn’t like, our favorite part, least favorite part, etc. about the movie. If the movie was sick and interesting, my brother and I would get all rallied up and start to reenact some of the scenes from the movie. When a movie character held some value to the people we wanted to become, my brother and I would portray ourselves as the characters and start to pick up the persona of whomever we watched.
When growing up what movie character, celebrity, athlete, or person in real life did you experience or witness that exemplified the characteristics of the man you want to be in life?
What 3 characteristics from that character exemplify the character you want to be?
A movie that always stood out in my eyes was A Knight's Tale. It is a medieval story based on the characters from renaissance literature, about a peasant-born character, William Thatcher (played by Heath Ledger), and his quest to “change his stars,” win the heart of an exceedingly fair maiden, and rock his medieval world. With the help of his friends, he faces the ultimate test of medieval gallantry - tournament jousting (mono-a-mono sport) - and tries to discover if he has the mettle to become a legend.
Since I was a kid, this movie has always been one of my favorites because of how badass William Thatcher’s quest was in my eyes. But not until recently, when I was trying to figure out things in my own head and reflecting on what I wrote down in the past, did I realize the major value of this movie in my life. This movie resonated with me on many levels especially based on my current mind frame.
The story of A Knights Tale is about William Thatcher, a boy who was born to nothing, practically a blank slate to the eyes of society, he was peasant born, and was seen as having no purpose. Since young age, William's father would ingrain in his son's head that he would be a somebody someday, he would be someone of nobility, honor, respect, stature, and dignity, he just needed to “follow his stars.” William's father, when William was a young boy, understood his son's potential and gave his son to a noble and respected knight so that young William could start to “align his stars.” Day in and day out, William worked his ass off, despite his upbringing, in hopes for one day his stars to align and see his father again as a noble knight. Williams' responsibility was to serve, train and cater to the needs of the noble knight and make sure he was prepared for his medieval jousts. One day during a tournament, the knight was in one of his jousting events and died. William and the rest of the knight’s crew (also, William’s best friends) hadn't eaten in days and needed to finish the contest in order to put food on the table. All of William's friends were content with withdrawing from the tournament, but not William. William recognized his star had aligned, and put on the knight's armor ready to joust, despite the opinions of his friends. William never stopped following his stars and now they were beginning to align. The rest of the movie is William Thatcher's fighting quest toward his vision of nobility, love, respect, and honor that his father instilled in him. In the end, William Thatcher conquers the greatest knights in the realm, wins the love of the most beautiful fair maiden in the land, captures the recognition and glory of all men who have watched him (no matter the social class), and reconnects with his father as a noble hero.
William Thatcher, in my eyes, exemplifies a Valiant and Bold Person of Principle!
Despite all odds, William had a vision, followed his stars, conquered great challenges and suffered defeat, feared no man, and in the end reigned as an honorable noble hero.

Redefine a Person of Principle in a way that you would describe yourself?
O.A.R.A. Model:
Principles and Framework:
● Outlook: ----> You can change your outlook
● Acceptance: ---> You must accept the things you cannot change
● Recognition: ---> You must recognize your true potential and any opportunities you come across that will optimize your abilities to achieve your goals (no matter how mundane)
● Action: ---> You must take action on these opportunities and take advantage of your true potential to become the Person of Principle you were born to be!
Quote From My Favorite Sports Movie:
In one the final senses, from the movie The Replacements, Shane Falco (Keanu Reeves), the quarterback, huddles up his team to try and score the game-winning touchdown.
With the crowd going crazy, Shane steps into the middle of the huddle. Looks around at his guys, and says:
“I know your hurt, I know you're tired, and I wish I had some classy words of inspiration (looking around huddle making eye contact with all his brothers).......
Pain is Temporary, Chicks Dig Scars, Glory Last Forever!”
